The Corn Refiners Association is Losing its HFCS Battle
According to a recent New York Times article, the “corn-fructose-is-good-for-you” battle that the Corn Refiners Association is trying so hard to win has just got tougher. Hunt’s ketchup has switched from high fructose syrup to sugar.
“ConAgra decided to reformulate one of its biggest brands, replacing the high-fructose corn syrup in Hunt’s ketchup with old-fashioned sugar”
The article then highlights that ConAgra is not the only company that switched from corn fructose to natural sugar.
Hunt’s ketchup is among the latest in a string of major-brand products that have replaced the vilified sweetener. Gatorade, several Kraft salad dressings, Wheat Thins, Ocean Spray cranberry juice, Pepsi Throwback, Mountain Dew Throwback and the baked goods at Starbucks, to name a few, are all now made with regular sugar.
Overall, according to the article, sales of HFCS have dropped 9% from 2007 to 2009, with a greater drop expected this year.

THANK YOU HUNTS!!! now i dont have to go to a health food store to buy catsup!!after my son went through my pantry with a sharpie marker, and wrote POISON on all foodstuffs containing HFCS, i did some research, and was compeled to throw away TONS of items. now if i could only find a pickle relish without HFCS, i could have a decent burger
